A rocky outcrop over the Mirabello Gulf is the stupendous position of this fascinating, original east-Cretan style villa. Conceived as the private retreat of an architect, it won a designers prize in 1984. This holiday home is perfect for those who wish to be away from any tourist centres, and enjoy the natural surroundings. The extensive living quarters are allocated on three levels. The interior is all one would expect of such a house, furnished with great taste. The pretty, shaded garden is equipped with an outside barbecue for evening meals in the open air, and the balconies and courtyards have comfortable garden furniture.
From this vacation house, one has enchanting views over the Mirabello Gulf. It is a wonderful place to completely relax, and where one is in direct contact with nature. The house can be occupied in winter, as there is oil central heating. There is a small camping ground 200 m away with a mini-market and a taverna, and the next village is 3 km from the villa, where there are shops, cafes and tavernas. We recommend hiring a rental car, that can be picked up from the airport. A chef is available on request.

The east of Crete is full of surprises, with romantic and bizarre rocky cliffs next to beautiful sand or pebble beaches. On this island one discovers a great diversity of landscapes, ranging from imposing high mountains to green, fertile valleys and deep gorges. The people here are also as many-sided as their natural surroundings, being simple, open-hearted and friendly and with a zest for life. Heraklion is the biggest town on the island with 120,000 inhabitants. South of the city is Knossos. Towards the eastern end of the island is the bay of Mirabello, with its town Aghios Nikolaos, and small settlement of Gournia. This is an important archaeological site, being the best preserved Minoan settlement.
