Embedded in the pristine woods of the Val Pusteria in South Tyrol, Northern Italy, the San Lorenzo Mountain Lodge offers a unique and striking experience in a world away from the world. Formerly an elegant hunting lodge for the local nobility engaging in battue hunting, this private retreat, a 42-acre oasis of woods and meadows at an altitude of 1200 metres, will enchant even the most discriminating guests with its magic and discreet elegance. The rustic 16th-century chalet owes its charm to the perfect combination of rural traditions and the aesthetic aspirations of its former aristocratic landlords. The tall vaulted ceiling of the entrance area sets the tone for the entire lodge, a pleasant counterpoint to the snug and homey atmosphere of the luxurious, predominantly wooden interior. The carefully restored ambience of the ground-floor breathes the natural warmth and soft elegance of a lived-in home. Each and every detail bespeaks the owners´ sureness of style and designing skill. Valuable antiques have been lovingly preserved or faithfully restored, modern objects cautiously fitted in – with a perfect feeling for balance and harmony. The elegance of exclusive textiles and the sheer beauty of the furniture combine with the austerity of natural materials to create an atmosphere of restful sensuousness. With loving care the owners Giorgia and Stefano have breathed new life into the old structure and have created an unexpectedly luxurious refuge amidst nature still in sound condition. Be it the traditional alpine stube, the comfortable kitchen, the newly adapted rest areas or the four individually furnished bedrooms – one will experience the home away from home in every detail. Giorgia and Stefano take good care of their guests whenever they so wish. The lodge is offered with ”VIP services”, which include preparation of daily breakfast (except for the arrival day) and dinner (except for the departure day). The landlady prepares meals using bio products from their own farm, which is just a stone throw away from the lodge.
In September 2012 the owners created an exceptional private golf course in front of the lodge in cooperation with an internationally renowned US golfdesigner Ron Kirby and a world-famous golfpro. It seems to be the most steep golf course of the world.
