At the feet of the holy “Lefka Ori Mountains”, overlooking the lush valley and forest of Apokoronas region lies Villa Alkioni, a bounteous residence located in a panoramic position a few minutes drive from the sea. The holiday villa, built with natural stone and wood in typical Cretan Style, comprises of two levels and a terraced well-kept garden with large private pool. The main entrance opens into a cathedral like indoor living area with a large dining table, a well-equipped open plan kitchen and a spacious split-level living area with floor to ceiling windows offer stunning views of the mountains and coastline. A spacious outdoor terrace shaded by a pergola with a dining table with access to the pool area and private garden. A well hidden patio accessible through the kitchen is equipped with a modern gas BBQ for outdoor cooking and celebrating. On the ground floor is one large master bedroom on one side and 2 bedrooms with twin beds on the other.
The master bedroom offers king size double bed, en suite open bathroom with Jacuzzi bath tub and separate toilet and access to a secluded terrace. A corridor leads from the lounge area to the other 2 bedrooms with separate bath and 2 toilets. Both bedrooms have access to a terrace above the pool area. The second master bedroom is located on the second level above the other master bedroom accessed from the open dining area and offers the same features with ensuite bath and balcony. The large private pool is surrounded by a spacious outdoor sundeck and garden with olive trees and roses. Villa Alkioni is a very pleasant retreat in Crete, away from the crowd but conveniently located not far from one of the most beautiful and long sandy beaches of the island.

Rethymnon
The area around the harbour of Rethymnon City was a place of importance to the Venetians in the middle ages. Today, Rethymnon is one of the most beautiful cities on the north coast of Crete. Its charming medieval and middle-eastern origins are visible in the typical narrow streets, the Venetian and Turkish houses and the slender minarets. The 16th century Venetian-style fortress is also worth visiting. Only 6 km from Rethymnon, reached by a romantic road completely built of old stone, one can discover the Venetian village of Maroulas, with its two wonderful old towers.
