La Palma, also called "Isla Bonita", is the greenest of the Canary Islands and is situated in the western part of the archipelago. Because of its geographical position, La Palma has a constantly mild climate all year round and it offers a wide variety of landscapes within a small area. In the west, east and south of the island you find the typical black sandy beaches. The north of this volcanic island with its bizarre cliffs has a wild and romantic feel to it. The mountains of La Palma offer lots of opportunities for hikers and cyclists, such as in the Caldera National Park. Especially attractive is the "Volcano Route" stretching right up to Fuencalente in the south.
